I assumed something similar to this suggestion would already exist, but the keywords I used in my searches didn't turn up anything.
I would like to be able to turn on a Range and Distance cursor (or the equivalent for mobile users)

I would like to be able to turn on a Range and Distance cursor (or the equivalent for mobile users)
- Then when I click on the map, my starting point gets set.
- As I move my cursor around the map, two types of range circles are drawn.
- The first type is yellow in the picture.
- This one is for planning Air Base locations, for planning air combat or transport missions, and for similar planning.
- It's similar to the tinted circles drawn for Airborne Assaults, but is a general purpose tool that isn't tied to any one unit type or distance.
- I didn't put a range label into my picture but the circle's radius needs to displayed somewhere in the user interface.
- The first type is yellow in the picture.
- The second type is the set of concentric rings around the cursor location. They are green in the picture.
- The rings are plentiful enough, and are spaced closely enough, for users to be able to know what various units' sight and RADAR coverages will be, if the unit moves to the cursor's location.
- This is for planning ground/navy/air unit movements/patrols, and would tell you both what enemies (assumed or known) and friendlies can see.
- For example, if a SAM unit is at location X, what's its coverage?
- For example, I got hit by AA fire while travelling from A to B. What are the AA unit's possible locations?
- The rings are plentiful enough, and are spaced closely enough, for users to be able to know what various units' sight and RADAR coverages will be, if the unit moves to the cursor's location.
