all the talk here need update
The map in world war 3 got update thay return the old city thay remove last year
USA got 3 components citys now and Russia got 10 city's and the rare metel city's near the capital now
China got it hard it got 9 city's but only 1 fuel city's and 3 electric city's
Turkey Sweden Egypt got more city's idk about the other

There are 2 elec and 2 fuel (as of right now) on WW3 4x.

EDIT on WW3 1x, Lanzhou has electronics (instead of its standard fuel), so the comment I replied to was correct.

Idk about x4 but I try 3 round with x1 speed and I got 3 components citys and all other country's got extra city's too

Well my test was 4x (game 7070699, started some 2 days ago).
I will also double-check in 1x. But I have never seen a city different on the same map at different speed.

EDIT I've just got into a WW3 1x game, and indeed Anchorage has components (instead of its standard electronics) here, unlike in my WW3 4x games. Very weird divergence!

For some reason, the resources cities produce are not standard across all variations of the WW3 scenario. Maybe something for Dorado devs to work on?

Yeah, this seems like a bug (or, charitably, a mis-feature) they introduced recently. The inconsistency is annoying like hell, and not something that should occur. Merely differing in speed ought not present a diverging scenario.

I rarely play 4x, so I don't experience this much, but last year during the Red vs Blue, I was confused as to why one of Japan's cities was producing electronics instead of components.

Tho I'd argue that Europe is about the best spot you can start, high concentration of VP on a relatively small area in combination with the high dropout rate makes for a lot basically free VP

I like running Germany in WW3 and FP, good centralized location for attacks in Europe and Scandinavia. Don’t recommend it unless you can juggle multiple wars at once..
Though I don’t approach many skilled players that would warrant needing to juggle a WW1-style multi front war.

Having only the ability to definitively comment on this from my own experience. I must say when I have played an island nation, I have never been successfully invaded, or ever even lost a coastal city.

The thing about island nations is that you have to defend your island(s) at all costs. That means you need to keep some sort of defense, whether it be ships, subs, NPA, or whatever else, in your core area. And if they are in your core area, they can’t be on the frontlines.
