When I have a ground unit near a port and pick a move target that's near a port, the game always seems to send the unit by sea. But, when I set waypoints on land, the arrival time is almost always sooner. Besides taking longer, ground units on a boat are defenseless. Are my subordinate commanders that lazy that they think it's a great idea to take a longer time and put our troops in harm's way just so they don't have to read a road map?

In general all Water paths are suspect. I generally double check and route my own path, Think something wrong with shallow vs deep water speeds.
But the auto path is lazy mans out. so dont be lazy and chart your own path I guess."And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him "

True. But, as someone who works with software for a living, I wonder what sort of logic is coded into that pathfinding.

Navy is just messed and also you could have 2 transports on same path and 2nd one engine wants to chart a separate paths despite speed; I guess their logic is if you happen to run into enemy ship waont lose both?? But to me counter intuitive as that's like taking 2 paths through a mine field..would anyone do that know you follow the first person assuming he doesnt get blown up
But I only send troops via transport if no other alternative and/or I am escorting convoy."And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him "

i think the code used to calculate minimum time is completely fucked
they need a new system, a WHOLE makeover
until then, i usually use waypoints and see which way is the fastest, it can vary depending on terrain/unit typesУкраїна
