Red VS Blue Apocalypse
For those of you who climbed the ranks throughout the years, might remember an old map where we tested a Team Based scenario emulating the Cold War - specifically the Able Archer Emulation scenario. If you don't - worry not!
We've been experimenting with a brand new iteration for sometime now and the time is now ripe to officially disclose - Red VS Blue Apocalypse!
A post-modern scenario, where the world is divided and on the brink of a conflict threatening to change borders, relations & history as we know it. Cooperation is the only key to success in this team-based 70 player map with a selection of 35 nations per team, at 4x speed. All players start off with nuclear warheads at the beginning of the game, and all research is available from Day 1 in typical Apocalyptic fashion.
As the name suggests, teams are split into two:
- Red Team
- Blue Team
Players will join in an A, B, A, B fashion. Meaning first player picks his team, second player will be required to pick the other team to ensure there is balance between the teams. Speaking of teams, each team, has a number of Nations available for you to command. The American continent is fractured in conflict between northern and southern brethren, Europe needs to be on the lookout for rising global powers in the African continent and Eastern parts of the world. Asia, similar to the west, has pockets of opposing nations which are holding ground until stabilized and well fortified.
When can you play the map?
This map will be released soon, very soon in fact. So clear up any lingering games you have and grab a teammate or two to join the chaos in our next update.
Planned changes to RvB post-release
In our early beta testing of Red vs Blue we are seeing some changes which will likely come in later iterations/updates.
- We are looking at which nations are candidates for grouping into one entire nation, Serbia and the Yugoslav area being an example
- North and South Korea will be changed from 4 cities to 5 cities each, this will give them a better fighting chance in the later mid-later days
- We are looking into an issue where your own allies can send Spies into your own teammates provinces/cities
Given this is a fair departure from the usual scenarios we make, your feedback on our social channels is more than welcome. In the days after release we will be setting up threads in our Discord and Forum for developer/player engagement, giving you the chance to contribute to later versions of the map.
Map rotation requests
We hear some players requesting some older maps to be reintroduced into the spawn rotation, while nothing is promised, we are exploring options. Keep a lookout on our Discord where we are spawning maps weekly for the folks on there.
The Global Conquest Tutorial Map will be A/B tested for some geographical areas and audiences, so you may or may not see those show up on your New Games List!
