Would it make sense for the game to take a page from HOI and allow players to set up a version of a battle plan?

A feature where the player designates some units, and one or more provinces for those units to defend IF those provinces are attacked?

As an addition to the current method of stationing forces right in the defended province, the player could centralize a group of forces in another location, and if the defense order is triggered, those troops move as a single entity to defend.

By the time you got there it would be too late; odds are troops would end up in wrong spots and/or if enemy went around now your cities would be undefended.

Perhaps play the games you like; which are not CoN. But better than labels; colors; profile pics which add zero to game.

Maybe, or maybe instead they arrive in time and concentrated strength to save the day.
It all depends on the situation, but my guess is that it would probably be better than just leaving the provinces defenseless, or penny packeting your forces. Again, it depends on the player, and how they allocate resources.

"...odds are troops would end up in wrong spots..."
Again, it depends on player skill in allocating resources.
If you don't feel up to anticipating the foe, then by all means, sit on your hands till the next time you log in.

"...and/or if enemy went around now your cities would be undefended."
Once more, that presupposes that you do not allow for it. Plus who wrote that you had to not leave a garrison for your towns, if that is what you believe may happen?

"Perhaps play the games you like; which are not CoN. "
It would really help your arguments to get your facts right.
      I enjoy CON.
Posting that which isn't true does not help your presentation at all.

"But better than labels; colors; profile pics which add zero to game."
Ah, but they DO add to the game experience. Color, immersion, and customization are all value added features.
Now whether or not the developers will implement them is a different issue, but that is the case for all suggestions.
