Hi, with a friend of mine we were wondering if heli are immune to any type of anti air (land and naval), I think so but he said he remember (he has a lot of experience in the game) the ships' flak attacks them anyway, who is right?
Anti air against heli

We read it, in fact I think they are immune to any type of anti-aircraft, but he, who has more experience than me, remembers that the ships' flak attacks heli anyway, so I asked here to receive an answer from someone who used Heli against ships

Don't forget to read the MAA stats too.
-
I already know how much damage they do, I just needed to know if helis activate every type of anti-air
-
Why are you so allergic to simply writing down a few notes while looking at the descriptions of the three helo types, two or three ship/sub types, and two AA types ( I ignored the elite units).
Have a pencil and paper handy as you do it - Take notes along the lines of Unti_type_A does/doesn't damage Unit_Type_B, etc. Maybe organize the results into a little grid. -
I repeat: I don't need to know how much damage they do to each other, but if helicopters activate some types of anti air or not.
In the description of helicopters it's written that they do not activate the anti-aircraft (without specifications) and I wanted the confirmation of this because this game has some mechanics that aren't written anywhere -
I'll repeat - Read whether Unit_type_A does/doesn't [have attack] damage [for] Unit_Type_B
In other words, if a non-airborne unit type that you care about has the ability to inflict attack damage on helicopters - Then I think you know whether or not that unit's AA attack will shoot at Helos.
If by "activate" you mean something other than "attack", that would require more explanation from you.
PS: In my Browser - Deciding to be extra thorough, I tried something - When I use my mouse to hover over the Anti-Air Icon in the bottom right of the Research pages' unit descriptions, I'm told which unit types (fixed/rotary/missiles/whatever) the unit in question will engage. The post was edited 1 time, last by KFGauss ().

So, does anti air attacks heli or no? -
Does the specific anti-air unit you are examining have an attack value "against" rotaries in its table of attack/defense/etc. numbers?
-
Yes
-
Then guess what . . .
That's your answer. -
So the description "Evades Anti Air Missile detection by flying NOE" means "Evades SAMs detection by flying NOE", or am I wrong?
Because there is a big difference -
Think of a sentence like that one as semi-accurate "fluff" that makes the game more fun for some people, but don't specify how the game works.
In the same way the unit "skins" are inaccurate, those are inaccurate. -
hmmm,
I suspect that a unit that cannot detect a helo with radar but can do damage to a helo will launch an attack if it is in-sight or if another unit detects the helo the information will be transmitted to the anti-air unit so it can fire upon the helo.
For example, frigates cannot detect helos with radar. but if the helos fly within sight range and the AA 10 minute timer hits zero, then they get shot at. Similarly if a helicopter flies within sight of an infantry unit and the helos are within AA range and the AA timer ticks off then the helo gets shot at.
Am I wrong gang? I think this is how the mechanics work. -

- A low-level Frigate's radar can't see Rotary aircraft.
- A high-level Frigate's radar CAN see Rotary aircraft.
- Within (visual) sight-range all Frigate tech-levels can see generic Rotary aircraft.
- Other units can also detect/see Rotaries.
- Some units that have AA abilities will attack detected/spotted Helos.
I believe the OP's question focuses on that last characteristic (that some AA units will engage Helos and others won't) of the units that have AA abilities. - A low-level Frigate's radar can't see Rotary aircraft.

I'll do some test in game, then I'll tell you what I found (probably in a month, now I'm on vacation and I have little time to play)
