when joining a map why not let players choose a doctrine? that way you could choose a doctrine favourable to your play style or allow you to play the same country three times over with a different feel to each it time?
why not allow choice of doctrine?

careful. you're coming up with ideas that are too good and make the experience far more enjoyable.

or at least allow us too see /sort /filter by doctrine.
even if you have the super-secret gdoc open in another tab while you're trying to start a new game, if you click on a nation and hesitate before confirming it's usually unavailable (and the game use to reload which took several minutes with a poor roaming connection) but you're still stuck having to choose a third rate country in that game.
I love many things about this game, but the starting interface and the uneven country resource production (even if they're arguably realistic) aren't fun. -
It just makes it more realistic to have set doctrines. If america suddenly switched to an eastern doctrine what would happen? Also if you prefer a specific doctrine just choose a country with that doctrine. There are many good countries to choose from that have each doctrine."The greatest battles are never won by men but with words"-Me
"Free flies and no work"-ME
"Duty is heavier than a mountain death as light as a feather" Lan from the Wheel of Time

cuz the game is based on real life?

No its not, but i think dorado wants to make the game more realistic than fantastical"The greatest battles are never won by men but with words"-Me
"Free flies and no work"-ME
"Duty is heavier than a mountain death as light as a feather" Lan from the Wheel of Time

Seems to me part of the reasoning for doctrines specific to playable countries comes down to balance.
If I could play as China with a European doctrine for example, how would this change the game?
Arguably, spamming beefy strike fighters leveled up with just a reinforced airframe and lets say a city with a lvl 1 hospital, and some airfields would give China an advantage with the amount of large provinces and territory to cover.
Realistically, some countries have a blend of different doctrine types used for their defense such as India, Poland & Turkey for example.
Which brings me to this thought along the same lines:
A fourth doctrine type of a blended doctrine, which would obviously need to be beta tested and game balanced. -
