SAMs, dont like helios?

      Exactly I totally agree.

      My last sentence was a response to someone else stating that their SAM's and frigates lost hp (hitpoints) when attacking planes and copters, though the copters/planes not been in their own attack range, but where in attack range of those sams and frigates. So technically the sams and frigates should not be losing HP, I stated that this never happened to me, unlike the person stating that he did notice this.

      Well, the frigates lose HP when they in high seas, which is reasonable, Im not sure why SAMs were losing HP?

    • Yeah - there could actually be a solution here:

      FIRST we fix the ***** American SAM's ;)
      THEN we re-implement SAM vs Heli Damage: but low vs Heli and high vs Aircraft (sort of the other way around as for the Mobile AA)
      And lastly we make sure that Theatre Defense is not so strong vs Aircraft and Heli but strong against Missiles.

      Idea is to give every of the air defenses a specific strong-point:

      Mobile AA = Strong vs Helis
      SAM Launcher = Strong vs Planes
      Theatre Defense = Strong vs Missiles

      that way we could have all of them useful and also in line of appearance - as usually missiles come into play later in the game (and are extremely powerful imo)

      At the same time i would like to take the chance to work on the speeds of the Attack Helicopters vs the Strike Fighters. They are too starkly different - same with the damages.
      Imo right now the Strikes are overpowered and we could lower the Fighter Speeds somewhat - and increase the Helo's a bit moving them closer together.
      Presently I love the Airmobile but NEVER use the Attack Helis.... do you?

    • I like the idea of specializing the AA, but I don't think heli's are worth it as is. If all you do is speed up heli and let sam and theatre hit them they will just be more useless than they already are. Also, I wouldn't make the mobile AA any weaker vs planes. It is kind of critical to have anti striker ability for airborne assault.

    • Imo I think attack helis should have high damage against tanks because they have a lot of setbacks. Most notably, their speed and range. They also have pretty low health, starting with 15 for the Eastern doctrine. AA tanks will tear any heli group apart as well so you have to be careful where you send the heli. The attack heli doesn't have a radar so you can't use it without support fixed-wing aircraft and if you have fixed-wing aircraft you might as well use the strike fighter.

      As soon as SAMs are able to attack helis, even if they have low damage you'd just need a SAM per a division to destroy it. In my game i'm putting at least 1 SAM in any division near the frontline of a fight and the range compensates for damage since a lot of SAMs can attack aircraft.

      I still agree that SAMs should attack helis, but I think the only way to balance out the helis would be to either 1. Increase damage drastically against tanks (Damage is still mediocre now) 2. Increase health of the helis to compensate for damage taken or 3. Make SAMs do very little damage against helis.

      If you want we can test out all these and see which one works through trial and error but idk how much feedback you'd get and how varied it'd be.

      However, I would copy that, and add secondary...

      Mobile AA = Strong vs Helis and good vs Aircraft
      SAM Launcher = Strong vs Planes and good vs helicopters

    • And Airborne infantry are great, I am using them in many games, can quickly capture the country side, then regroup for the jump into the major cities, they are great. Using them with attack helis or strike planes, as if they encounter any armor,
