Yea that very true, and I couldnt say what they do spend is efficient. I do say that to any nation participating in the F-35 Junk $hitty failure( JSF ) program. Type 45s are pretty nice though XD

Yes Brexit will be interesting to see what happens, Im kinda leaning towards a.. .Quitaly, Irexit... well really just the EU goes back to focusing on free markets, and not having to wait for ages in line when arriving to Spain on my holidays. But there are 300 EU regulations over pillows? like.... There too big of a presence of socialists in the MEP for my liking, and finally the idea of an EU army I find seriously worrying. EU needs reform ASAP or else needs to break up

Let me break this down (please take no offense for none of the below):

      1. The UK left the EU for reasons that are obvious. However, due to the Commonwealth, they are able to keep alive economically. Ireland wouldn't be able to do that. Ireland needs the EU free market to survive.
      2. I completely agree with you over the fact that there is way too much regulation. The EU needs radical change, now.
      3. And finally, I completely disagree with you over the EU Army thing. The EU Army is one of the things that Europe needs. It not only brings closer political ties between nations in Europe, but also put the EU right back on the world stage.

You cannot be serious. Okay, firstly. Staight off the bat, an EU army is the worst fear, and is an awful idea.
That a good point on Ireland leaving EU, so Id rather see it all split off and just a free market within Europe

But the EU army, why that is an awful idea. As long as there are different opinions about who is our enemy, we can have no use for a common army. To many countries with many different agendas. Only time when an EU Army would be of any use is if one of the member states gets invaded. And currently there are only two major countries with military capabilities to do something so complicated - Russia and Turkey. ( Would Turkey really do that.. since they in NATO and all)

By establishing its own command structure, the EU is setting itself up as a direct rival to Nato. There are many in Europe, particularly in France, who resent America’s dominant role in the transatlantic alliance, even though it is largely due to American firepower that Europe has enjoyed peace and prosperity since the end of the Second World War.

      1. About the free market within Europe, I agree with you. Just disband the EU and have free market.
      2. Come on, man. Don't be naive. The one enemy Europe has is Russia. There is a common enemy.
      3. That's a good point on rivalry with NATO. I don't resent America's leadership one bit, due to the fact that Europe is full of cowards.

Its the harsh truth. Its because Europe is littered with socialist pacifistic peasants who are barely even worth anything above a jail sentence. I love the USA, to but put it as Reagan did. USA are the leaders of the free world because "we are the only ones who can do it". The French, the Spanish, Italians, Dutch, Belgians, Everyone Id say are weak and acting cowardly. I couldnt say the Estonians are, they paying their fair share into NATO and standing up to the Ruskas. UK I dont know If Id call them cowards. Ireland as a nation is cowardly, but our people are not. I can assure you of that. All that being as of today...

And outside of EU, I dont think the Sweds are weak

Only Enemy of Europe is russia? nonsense man, there could be new threats emerge.

The EU as a whole is being cowardly. Overall, less than the NATO-required 2% was spent on defense last year throughout the EU.

I didnt mean it in that context but cant remember how I was trying to put it now lol.

Emm, there wont always be one threat, and the intersts of many nations will be dominated by the corrupt socialists in Brussels. An EU army would be horrible. An Army is a position of nationalism and loyalty to ones nation, I would happily serve for my country. But I couldnt go and fight for some other nations in the EU....

,y armed forces should never be put under foreign General's. We swear an oath to defend Ireland, not "Europe" although we should fight side by side with our European allies when the time comes, but we dont fight for them we fight with them.

And What if European interest goes against Irish interest? Or the Spanish Interest?

If the EU is as corrupt as you say it is, then why on earth would you want to give the corrupt the military, what left do you have that the stupid EU have?

EU was a huge catalyst for the 2008 Financial crisis as well, and they forced it upon Ireland to accept the bailout and suffer at the hands of brussels.

It is summed up very well here.. It’s Juncker’s darkly mystical dream of an EU Army specifically raised to defend ‘European values’, a force designed to work in parallel with NATO, yet answerable to no one except its political masters at Brussels Command.

Maybe Im going a tad extreme here, but I cannot continue to see the similarities of this to the 1930s..
IS The EU is the historical successor to the Third Reich? consider how the SS was created as an autonomous political tool beyond the regular Germany army and how its power grew incrementally. The planned EU Army and NATO bear a similar relationship to that of the SS and the Wehrmacht. Consider also the defining mission of the Pan European Waffen SS which was “to defend European civilization from Jewish Bolshevism” and the EU Army’s guiding principle of, as Juncker states it- “defending EU values from Russia.”

And lets look at another scenario. Alot of this ideals came from the Horrible Paris attacks last year.
Let's say further Paris terrorist attacks take place. France has enough and wants to go to war, Germans and Portuguese don't.
Goes to vote. France loses. France doesn't retaliate, is humiliated and there is civil disorder.
Thank you very much, EU "army"!

A key part of national sovereignty is removed.
Moreover, an EU army could also attack. It would not just be a defensive alliance. If the EU wants to start a war, no member could refuse to take part in it. Another key part of national sovereignty is removed!
