    • Actually, this is something debatable, while not something good short term for the game.

Now that they are cloud-based, they are scalable, and what they hate is "server space occuped by physical void", aka a map for 45 players with 1 player inside. A small 1 vs 1 map would be less a strain, especially considering it would not be hugely popular, beyond events or organised competition.

This is more an idea to propose them once we will be out of beta ^^.
Running an online alliance is pretty much like running a small company, except you need to find other way than money to keep your employees productive. May they play or work, they are humans.
    • I would be totally in for a 2 player map. These kinds of setups would totaly allow for even game run events, like duels for prizes or even what i'm trying to achieve here with the one on one competition :)

Of course, I would use the 26 maps if they were available right now to me, but seeing as that is not the case and no other alternatives are available, i'm forced to use the 45 map.

Still, if they came out with such maps like that, I would totally love it. Real personal competitions and game play :D

Their combat capacity is ok at max, but they are purely an offense unit.

That's why I prefer the marines, as while they follow a similar offense focus, the boost for cities is what makes them superior as I see, as cities are where you're biggest combat operations usually occur.

I was a bit taken aback I must admit about the lack of love for tanks though. Even those guys who use lots of airborn should appreciate the Tank Destroyer at least, with it's air assault capacity.

Maybe that's just a personal preference, as I never go into battle without some form of armor. Oh well :P
I don't like tanks, but I use anti tanks all the time. A regular stack for me is either 3 marines and an amphib combat vehicle, or 3 airborne and an AT. I just find main battle tanks to be very expensive to research, and although very good at soaking up damage, a few air strikes and they are wiped out. They have zero for air def so when I see a stack of 4 tanks with maybe 1 infantry with them, my air units wipe them out.

Remember that no one ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb idiot die for his country.
    • Yeah, they do have a tenancy to be weak against air power.

Still, that is why you never send them in alone. My standard groups of 3 Marine/2 Tanks are usually dependent on the doctrine. In Eastern case, the T-80's are quite cheap so not as bad for cost. As for Western, I just supplement with Tank Destroyers as they are cheaper and I can get similar mileage out of them.

As for the air problem, that's where my other part of the offense kicks in. Usually, i'll be running escorts of strike fighters or Aircraft Carriers loaded with strikes, as well as destroyers and frigates all armed with missiles. While there is potential that my units will take damage, I rely rather than going anti-air, destroying the airfields that the enemy might use, thereby grounding their aircraft and preventing any possible airstrikes on the forces I use.

I'm sure a lot of people have different strategies for different situations, but it's never let me down before :)

    • I only started okaying these last few days, but the unit that has immediately touched my heart is airmobile.

A man finds an old lamp and rubs it. Out comes a genie that says, “Thank you for freeing me. Would you like to be a Hero of the Soviet Union?”
The man says yes, and poof! He then finds himself in Stalingrad in 1942, facing five tanks alone and armed with only three grenades.

THAT is what I call a sitting duck for fighter planes and under equipped to deal with a small stack of motorized (let alone mechanized or naval) infantry with limited armor support. :) It's also not abortable once the unit is in the air.

I know right.... That does annoy me, feel we should be able to relocate airborne troops.

    • I'm heavy bombers all the way. I love those guys... I just won a game where I didn't build a single tank for over a month (yes lecture me on tactics later plz ;) ) But yeah, I rocked the skys with my carrier based air superiority and then had 4 fleets of heavies rock my enemies...

I mentioned my guess why in another thread. Some people leap before they look, so they could jump, then see they are about to land in a superior stack and abort. I know for sure that I would have used this as an intelligence gathering technique if it had been available.
