I have aircraft on the ground attacking ground forces.
This is patently ludicrous!!

Are they dealing the same amount of damage that they would do in the air? Cause if not I can see ways to make aircraft shoot enemies while still on the ground. Especially the fighters. The machine guns still work even when they aren't in the sky. Just turn turn the plane and shoot at incoming troops. Bombs can be self destructed but of course there would be collateral damage.

That is not what would happen in real life. If the airbase is blown to hell they are not going to go sit in the aircraft and then have the crew wheelbarrow them around shooting.
I had a dozen aircraft caught on the ground. I destroyed their base and when I sent an ID to take the city they did take the city but as I was annexing it was fighting the transport trucks for those remaining aircraft. I usually send some helos over and blow them up.Ain't Nothing But A Thing! -
Sounds like it's not the planes they are fighting but the ground crew and pilots turned infantry...
-
Once this happens are they considered infantry at that point? Or do they still have fighter attack/defense value against helo gunships?
-
I'm pretty sure they only have one set of attack and defense characteristics, while still in the form of aircraft. Youd think theyd autoscamble to not be captured and fly to the nearest base. But I like it as is, you just have to hit the airbase.

Against ground forces on the ground, planes must be useless ..The crew of the plane is a few people .. some more technicians but in battle they are all useless ..The post was edited 1 time, last by rarh1 ().

It's not the planes but the crews that the attackers are encountering and fighting with though.

In addition, aviation does not have a defense indicator, judging by their characteristics

Thnk you. A voice of sanity -

@Antony N What should aircraft do if their airfield is destroyed and they come under ground attack by enemy forces? Switch sides? Self-destruct? What's the less ludicrous option here?
Do you think they are going to line up for them as in a shooting gallery - please lol -
They are very weak on the ground and can't 'take on and defeat a division of motorized infantry' unless they heavily outnumber them.

My point is not that they are weak attk wise but that they tie you up in combat. Each round is an hour long. It could take several hours to clear that. I have come across in all my games stacks of a dozen or so planes. I knock out the airbase but then I am fighting the trucks on the ground for hours afterwards. Really? I have a division of Air Cav land into a hot LZ of Moto and in one round they are gone. As in as I am landing. They fight and most the time the OpFor is defeated outright or with a few times a few hp's are left so one more round. That is at least a battalion of infantry, 4-5 companies of men majority with Assault/Long rifles etc vs my 5 battalions of infantry of 20-25 companies. Even landing on a tank unit my Air Cav div deals a lot of damage to it and this is a tank rgt. My IDs the same way. Yet subject is a plethora of squadrons of planes and we are talking about the ground crews who more than likely mostly have side arms with maybe some carbines but nonetheless they are not trained infantry. I doubt all those ground crews used to be in the Special Forces and named Ryback.Ain't Nothing But A Thing!
