    • DEVELOPER DIARY 3: ELITE ALLIANCE CHALLENGES - OVERHAUL

The past few months have been hectic here at the Dorado offices. Besides the Steam release, we've been focusing on backend optimizations, bug fixing, and streamlining our internal workflow to get new content into your hands at a higher rate. We will continue on this course over the coming weeks as we prepare for our next major milestone which will be announced later this year.

Today we have some exciting news for the dedicated, competitive players among you: Alliance Challenges have received an overhaul.
Over the past two weeks, we've been collecting feedback from our active alliances to establish the ruleset under which rated matches will take place. As the outcome of these matches will affect the particpiating alliances' ELO Rating, we've decided to create a dedicated map, specifically balanced for Alliance Challenges.

Here are the highlights a glance:
      • Alliance Challenges are now played on a dedicated, 22-player map.
      • The geometry is based on our World Redux map, which can already be hosted by alliances and individual players for practice purposes.
      • Victory Points are fixed and don't scale with team size.
      • In order to create equal conditions, we've decided to limit variance as much as possible. This means the burden will fall to you, the alliance leaders, to recruit and retain your members if you want to compete on CON's highest tier. You will still be able to join rated matches with less than the suggested number of players. Just know that this is a conscious decision for which the sole responsibility lies with you.
      • Premium currency is disabled.
      • Custom peace period at start of the match upon agreement of the participating alliances.
      • Earn double the amount of Rank Points.
      • Rank Required: 25+ (Corporal)
      • The rated match bracket is intended for CON's most dedicated and experienced players. While there is no rank restriction on joining an alliance, team members below rank 25 will NOT be able to participate in Alliance Challenges.

How Do I Start An Alliance Challenge?
      • In an effort to eliminate exploits, rated matches can only be hosted by us.
Alliances that wish to challenge each other can contact one of our CMs directly on Discord. Please decide on a spokesperson for your alliance who will engage the CM to minimise confusion.
      • Decide on a peace period that wish you establish at the start of the match, together with the alliance you want to challenge.

Does that mean, a bigger team will reach victory condition faster than a smaller team?
Since the odds are in favour of the bigger team, yes. With this being said, the players should be split evenly for fairness, so outnumbering matches is quite unlikely. We will coordinate with the team leaders on the matter, at the end of the day the challenge is at the discretion of Dorado.

    • The incoming summer isn't the best period for my alliance to engage into challenges, but we will begin to bring players to play until the rank 25 and make a line for elite challenges
Running an online alliance is pretty much like running a small company, except you need to find other way than money to keep your employees productive. May they play or work, they are humans.
