So are those two in a stack with a recce for eyes a viable thing? I used it.. put out a lot of damage and seemed cheaper than the tank, mech infantry, armour stack. Did I just get lucky matchups?

no. It is indeed a very potent tool in early, especially to defend against rushes and urban areasRunning an online alliance is pretty much like running a small company, except you need to find other way than money to keep your employees productive. May they play or work, they are humans.

I've wanted to try this out myself and yes it's really deadly! I even have a stack with officer tier 4. I have armour officer/5 tank destroyers/1 moto omg/1 mobile AA/1SAM.

I like tank destroyers at all, especially for European doctrine. Its fast enough air transportable and then air mobile, so best "heavy" unit to accompany paratroopers and air forces.

Personally, I don't like TD's +25% ATT in urban, because it makes it good both in offense and defense. Worth to mention, that this is the best 'pacification' unit. Single tank destroyer Tier I is enough to control newly occupied city with no worries. Which is a bit tricky.

Honestly, it is a viable setup particularly for European doctrine; what I like to do is put tank destroyers with armored fighting vehicles when I'm in European doctrine with mech inf and AA, using an ACV to replace a CRV. It works excellently for urban combat. Using naval marines or motorized infantry with the stack instead of mech inf for attacking and defending respectively is even better; the mech inf is there mostly to provide a flexible unit doing equally well against armor and infantry, as well as buffing the stacks AA since their point defense is so surprisingly good.
