      + + + + DEV DIARY: ENTRY 14 + + + +

The year is 2040... Man is divided, driven by survival, and on the verge of self destruction. This is your opportunity to leave your mark in history, on your conquest to greatness. Keep your wits. Lest you falter.

      (COMING SOON)

      In recent news, the world of CoN as we know it has evolved in our much hinted, new map: Rising Tides. The team has been hard at work to give you a fresh take on modern war which we're all very excited to share with you. Without further ado, let me give you the nitty gritty of what's in store;

      Strategic Points

In 2040, climate change has dramatically changed the face of the planet. Precious resources, once taken for granted, have become catalysts for all out war. Holding one or more of these last remaining nodes will ultimately decide the fate of the world's few remaining nations.

      NEW Building Type: Strategic Point
      • Strategic Points are scattered throughout the map
      • Every Strategic Point is worth 1000 Victory Points
      • Indestructible
      • Non-buildabale

      Sactuaries & Radiation Shields

Amidst the catastrophic effects of the shifting climate, and the imminent threat of a global war, refugees from all over the world are abandoning their homes to settle in safe zone cities. These cities are known as Sanctuaries.

New Building Types: Sanctuary, Shielded Sanctuary
      • Some cities are designated as Sanctuaries at game start, and cannot be built or destroyed
      • Once a Sanctuary has reached a minimum Population of 4, it automatically starts charging a Radiation Dome over several hours
        • When the Radiation Dome is fully charged, a Sanctuary is worth 50 Victory Points
        • The Radiation Dome of a Sanctuary can be damaged just like any other building
        • Population and Buildings within a shielded Sanctuary are completely protected from unit damage until the Radiation Dome collapses
          • Sabotage can still directly affect Population and Buildings
        • Radiation Domes DO NOT protect units stationed in a Sanctuary

The Antarctica will also feature in this map, allowing players to use it to their hearts desire. The position and placement allows for interesting flanking manoeuvres, or base of operations. Territories in this area boast a good defensive position in the early game since Harbors/Wharfs are not pre-constructed at game start.

    • Nice touch that the globe in the background of the video shows the flooded world and that all of these sanctuaries are sources of energy. If I'm not mistaken, are those sources of geothermal, solar, wind, hydroelectric, biomass, and nuclear energy?

Also, I see that the CoN News video featured the sanctuaries on the old map style (pre-June 27, 2018, blue hue everywhere, thick borders on oceans) as well as the new one, and the news article from July 18, 2019 shows them on the new map style. Which map style will the Rising Tides map use?
