    • UPDATE NEWS 170426: ATTACK HELICOPTERS

      Dear Players,

Listening to your feedback we recognized the need for a varied and potent mix of helicopters to forward the aims of your ingame military campaigns: introducing the reinvigorated Attack Helicopter Progression tree.

Deadly and efficient, the Russian tree features the MI-28 Havoc, a dedicated attack helicopter known worldwide for its speed and all-weather versatility. It has a chin-mounted 30mm Shipunov 2A42 cannon along with stub wings which can mount, among other armament configurations, 16 Ataka-V anti-tank missiles and 40 S-8 rockets. This machine is all deserving of its name.

The European tree features the Eurocopter Tiger, a resilient and well equipped all-composite multirole attack helicopter. The Tiger is both agile and stealthy, and has a high rate of survivability due to these characteristics. Being armed to the teeth doesn’t hurt either- a nose-mounted .30mm turret, various gun pods, rockets, and air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles- the two pilots and one weapon systems officer are sitting comfortably wherever the Tiger takes them.

Not to be overshadowed, the US tree features the game-changing S-97 Raider. A high-speed reconnaissance and attack compound helicopter, the Raider has a distinctive rigid co-axial rotor system which enables the aircraft to fly two pilots and six crew 10,000 feet high, 276 mph, and all while experiencing extreme temperatures. Fitted with 7-shot rocket pods and .50 caliber guns, and an exhaust system that masks its heat signature so that heat-seeking missiles fail to reach their target, this helicopter is designed to be the next generation of helicopter aviation.

In response to your suggestions, this week we are also introducing an Airlift Embarkation Procedure for all units in the field. The procedure for embarkation, or disembarkation, was too immediate and unfairly allowed units to airlift out of an undesirable situation. Units will now be subjected to the added time that they would normally encounter when trying to airlift out of the field; in essence, units trying to quickly escape combat or a missile attack will now be held accountable.

And to those of you who have experienced the deep freeze of the cold northern latitudes of Kotzbue and Bethel, Alaska- ingame and not to be mistaken for the real-world, character-building places of the same name- we have permanently fixed it so that you can use them as launch destinations for all of your military campaigns. Whether it was thermal underwear for the troops or fancy backend maneuvering we can’t really say for sure, but for certain, your troops will not be stuck!

Thank you for your insights, suggestions, and comments. Keep the feedback coming.

      See you on the battlefield.
