Help me out here, because I am clearly missing something.
My enemy and I are fighting in a city.
My enemy has an AA gun.
I (unrelated) put my aircraft on patrol outside the city AND what I think is outside of the AA range.
It's a 4x map, and I continue to actively play for awhile (long-enough for multiple AA ticker rounds to pass on a 4x map). No interaction between my aircraft and the AA gun.
I eventually log off with everything still in the same position.
I log back in a short while later. The battle is still going on in the city, and has at no point concluded. BUT my patrolling aircraft have all died from AA fire from the enemy stack that's been fighting in the city the entire time.
What happened? How were my aircraft fine before but within AA range while I was offline? Weren't the enemy units combat locked? How did my planes get into range?
It's not my intention to argue against everything and refuse all answer, because I really do want to know. BUT, it's also not my first game. Obviously there's something I'm missing, but it's probably not something very basic, or I'd be aware of it. I think this has happened to me a few times now.
Do aircraft patrol in irregular patterns that put them in different places at irregular intervals?
