What is the best way to utilize aircraft carriers?

So far, I have stacked 2 cruisers and planning to have a frigate with the aircraft carrier stack as well, but I'm still not too sure about how to best use it and have it survive

Pleasantry apart, i'd say that at least, consider some ASW helicopters to reco subs. I have troubles to find them a true role. Maybe others have a more educated opinion.

I would say the best part of the Aircraft carrier is the 3 500 rare materials i can spare by not building one.

an expensive toy

and I like to think they're more of an option for helis if you wanna invade across oceans cuz helis often lack the range to operate from these islands
a big upside is that they cant be targeted by ballistic or intercontinental missiles while giving that 2hp/day healing to all aircraft .... so thats something i guess?

May be if they make maps with higher score limits they will be more useful. A huge sized map like in another plant or so

The only ones I have ever seen get sunk easily. but most werent escorted properly. but friggs would be a must because you come at me Im following your planes back with my planes. throw in some sub detection.

wouldnt really make them that much more usefull?
imo the most limiting factor to them is right now the bad combination of
- expensive to build
- low carrying capacity for the amount of time/ressources invested
--> could scale with each level instead of each tier

How if the map is really huge with large large oceans they will be necessary to cover a lot of ocean with less number of stacks. the helios range is greater than regular navy (much greater ). so it will act as a huge huge destroyer.

Also with such big ocean even strikes might not be capable of reaching many continents .

2 stacked carriers can give
1- 4 naval helios + 1 attack helio
2- 5 naval asfs
3- helio captin and idk may be 1 uav or 1 more naval helio to search.

They act like frigates + destroyer with greater range and better efficiency vs choppers and with enough activity your stack wouldn't get in close combat with any one.

Still this is all in paper and can't be verified as such a map doesn't exist

how many craft can you carry ... wasnt it only like 6 ish to start. then cant heal.... i like having 3 squads in threatre to rotate in and out. One idiot built one and sailed at me.. no escort and had like 1 or 2 planes and parked it 50 ft off shore

I think in the past it was intended for
1- u don't get the full stack
2- u get the stack + naval awacs before the nerf
3- with 2 u get 3 stacks + naval awacs

you mean the radar changes? naval awacs were utterly useless before them too; simply because normal awacs have such a massive range

I always like my Aircraft Carrier to have 3 NASF + 3 NSF escorted by 5 destroyers that I usually build in these games. Frigs all round if I can. Basically create a huge overlapping AA shield while not lowering the Carrier’s overall ship fighting power in case it gets into skirmishes.

use the helios to support the attack attack choppers and naval ones have good damage with very little resistance from frigates .

I mean use instead I never went for the carriers but I think their point is they can be sufficient on their own may be with frigate or so but they are too expensive that it's hard to research them + other navy

I used to build aircraft carriers in past but by the time they were operational we usually had already won the game,one aircraft carrier is not much usefull so better build 2 (assuming level 1) then use 5 naval strike fighters and 3 helicopters on them.it must be supported with your ships.
