      Wanted to test out some UK strategies (so just Flashpoint ;) ) . havnt played flashpoint in a while but like the quick games but its like taking candy from babies. Will just play solo so hopefully a few countries band together with some success to make a decent handicap match.

      Cities start odd with cities just off coast so no ports (except 2) but now have to defend prov with docks. would just rather have the city on the port ;(

      See how it goes; usually the island nations a bit more isolated. Breaking out the tunnel machine to Chunnel to France .

    • I don't understand why you people don't like Flashpoint maps.
      They are the best maps for me.
      Quick, intense, enemies everywhere, especially central and east Europe, Balkan.. Well everywhere. Big countries struggle to survive because can't deffend quick enough in the beginning. Nobody is safe.

      Yes it's full of newcomers who clicked on "play now" button and left the game. But sometimes players with more experience are playing, sometimes even 2 or 3 coalitions are active in game. And that is fine to have a good game. Because you don't need to travel 2 days to reach your enemy.
      The game can end in a month. It's better IMO than playing for more than 2 months.

      I would like to see regular ranked Flashpoint maps like rank 7-8 or even 10+ as requirement. Never seen that unfortunately.

      its nice for toying around and doing silly stuff; but its hardly worth beyond that point as its 90% just grabbing ai land and then maybe teaming up to finish the map
      but ppl are usually that bad that even playing it solo can hardly be considered a challenge
      its just stomping the usual strikefighter/tank spammers and is even more boring than ww3

      there are other small maps; but sadly they dont seem to be in rotation that often (blood and oil, middle east, 1970 flashpoint)

    • Flashpoint is my testing ground for new ideas and countries (my block of 2 I’m playing right now was with US which I avoided for some time). Generally most games I joined I just kept out of the fight and eventually the winners left me alone or I joined their coalition. Staying out and making sure you don’t get noticed or attacked by rushers are definitely an idea for surviving in Flashpoint. US, Canada and Cuba are good for this purpose.
      Of course, if you can join up with the right people, then you can form a coalition and play together. Usually 3 people together can rather easily sweep the entire map. Winning then becomes easy ;)
      I usually go with the same combined arms strategy I use for every game: Mot. Inf + AFV + ASF (+ Strike) + Frig/Destroyer. It works for me and works every time :)

      I LOVE playing as England. Mainly because I don't like attacking until at least day 3. I prefer to build forces and examine the field to see who is going to be an actual opponent.

      As far as your "re-enactment" ... I do that almost every time I play as the UK, except I usually add a second prong and hit France too just below the jutting peninsula in a simultaneous invasion.

      UK will always have a special place in my war heart, as it was the first CoN game country I played as.

    • France / Germany / Italy all making day 1 well now 2 rookie mistakes.

      Germany at war with pretty much everyone within his reach; so spread out and losing troops to Czechia (no wonder 57 games played and 0 wins so not a rookie but just hard headed); Italy just lost like 5 units hitting austria (again people cant figure out hitting a city guarded with 2 inf units by attacking with 2 inf units doesnt work). France seems the best of bunch as hasnt wasted too many troops .. but that coalition going to feel good for about 3 days ;)

      Cleaning up scottland then will take out ireland first before mainland invasion. Resources a bit low so will need to build up slow.

      Solid. It seems the best strategy for the invasion would be striking across the channel, clearing and landing in Calais, driving toward Paris, and knocking out France while setting up defenses in the East so Germany can knock his units into pieces while Italy orders battalions to their deaths one by one.

    • I love UK in flashpoint. I am playing it now. Took over from someone who quit on day 2 but had not built anything so it was really day 1 for me. Took Scotland but they only have one unit. Working on Ireland, he was a hard head and tried 2 assaults simultaneously without any air power. I think he is done now. 2 cities left and I really think he has no military left.

    • Day 6 Update: Full D-Day Invasion began:

      Text Book 90 pct of France will be liberated by end of day...although didnt have pieces in place as waiting for Coalition partner Algeria to be ready to attack Italy.

      But he decided unannounced to launch everything he had at Southern France/Italy/German coalition partner. So had to Launch attack on the fly to avoid Gemany/France counter. was planning on waiting 1 more day to have 2 Friggs and another SF spun up. But ah well it worked with what i had.

      Three pronged attack hitting NW beaches in Nantes and Bourdeax (lead by Ship convo (well 1 Corvette ;-)) to protect and weaken ports).... simultaneously Invaded across channel to Cailis (leading with mini Combo 3 ASF/1 Air Strike stack) ; last port hit was amsterdam (occupied area of France/Germany) just with 1 corvette to take out known inf and block any path of counter attack. Now only routes for couter are Germany through Hamburg or France looping all the way around spain.

      Route through Calis had three trailing stacks ... so lead stack pushed through to paris (which was crippled with Air attacks after clearing calis). Now continuing towards Marselle and his only navy base. overall light resistance so assume he had most of remaining troops on Spanish front (big mistake) so now just need to maintain a southern front and wait. Italy now engaged by Algeria and Germany in Czechia. They left the Chicken coupe open for the wolf ;)

      As recall was going to do this solo; but a forum buddy wanted to join in Algeria. he has managed to take Rome and Palermo and Naples. however lost a good chunk of troops on un-escorted convoy running into a Italian corvette in middle of med. Hopefully we crippled France/Italy enough he is not exposed for any counter. but have established air supremacy and moved operations to Paris so will be able to cover while Allied troops from Africa march up Italy towards Germany.

    • Great to hear of you successes. My battle is not going as well. I am playing as UK in coalition with France. Portugal is shall we say building everything in the book the easy way and whooping up on France. I headed his way but he said to forget that and defend my mainland for the inevitable. Our 3rd ally is hung up in the interior of Bulgaria and cant get out :). Oh well it was a good way to waste 11 days . Have a great weekend guys .
