    • the real 'map problem' is that Hawaii has no city, no harbor, and no airbase availability. a key strategic naval and air stepping stone, ignored totally. if Nazi and Jewish insults are prohibited by the game but we still have a germany and an israel, are we afraid of tarnishing the memory of Pearl Harbor and thats why hawaii is a speck on the map? thats a bit pretentious isnt it?

    • Fun Facts about Canada on the 45 player map (and maybe the 26 player map too)

      (1) Canada does have one (1) northern deep water harbor in Hudson Bay (about the 8 oclock position in the bay) in a tiny town called Churchill.
Adding that port to the map makes Canada a bit easier to invade by sea. There are already a few other harbors in other nations which don't have cities.

      (2) All those roads in Northern Ontario look lovely, but alas, they don't exist. Just north of lake Superior, where highway 11 and 17 converge - there is exactly one (1) road connecting Eastern Canada with Western Canada. When that road is closed, we get detoured through the USA. (true story, even in 2017) There is also one rail line, but they don't figure into the game.
On a personal note, I would be delighted if Dorando underwrote the cost of building a second East-West highway across northern Ont. Of course the terrain alternates between granite hills, and swamp filled valleys.

      (3) Halifax doesn't have oil or fuel - unless we go back to the days of coal burning ships. They would sell their mothers into slavery to have oil in that province. They don't really have manufacturing or electronics either, but being generous, they do have a decent harbor with road and rail access, so maybe supplies?

      (4) Edmonton and Calgary DO have oil, LOTS of oil, both light sweet crude, and Edmonton is the gateway to the tar sands - one of the largest oil reserves on earth. Both cities also have lots of industry, but I suggest that at least one of those cities become Canada's fuel hub, just so Western Canadian cowboys don't get their knickers in a knot, if they ever play CON.

      (5) I like that harbor access to Vancouver takes 4+ hours and a twisty route. That is accurate for merchant marine traffic. Canada's main pacific naval base isn't in Vancouver, it is on the western side of Vancouver Island (In Victoria), with direct sea access to the pacific. The navy is not hampered with slow access to the pacific ocean.

      (6) Canada's navy is nearly non-existent in 2017. No carriers, No cruisers, No destroyers, No supply vessels, No arctic capable naval craft, a few frigates, rowboats, and bathtubs that float.
I remember a time when the Canadian navy had a carrier (The Bonaventure) No cruisers since 1961 but there were over a dozen real useful destroyers once. The last destroyer was decommissioned this year. No replacement for at least 10 years if that.
SO... CON should only let Canada build corvettes and frigates... until 2027. Maybe add a "bathtub" class naval vessel which sinks if you look at it on a rough day. <endsnark/>
