Alright, this is my last attempt at making this first game happen. We had a lot of people talking about it, but for some reason, no one ever wants to set parameters or start a game. When I tried to jumpstart one about a month ago, I was told that I shouldn't take it over because someone else wanted to run it. Yet, here we are with no game. So, I'm just going to lay out the parameters and the start time, and anyone who feels up to the challenge is welcome to join.
TIME: The first WWIII 1x game that spawns new AFTER 2300 GMT tonight (Thursday, April 16th). I understand that time may not be the greatest for everyone, but it's shortly after the new game days start, and no time works for everyone. Some of the players who have expressed interest in the past are literally on opposite sides of the globe.
GAME: WWIII - Most of us previously agreed that this was the game/map that could most reasonably be considered "standard".
SPEED: 1x - This is not MY preference. I HATE 1x and only normally play 4x. However, general preference in the past seemed to be for 1x.
GOLD: No gold usage for the people participating in this at all. Gold is a wonderful element of Conflict of Nations that keeps the game running for all of us, and use of gold in general should never be discouraged. That being said, we cannot really compare personal strategy and skill if players are using uneven amounts of gold to supplement their play.
COALITIONS: You can create a coalition, and you can join one. However, the other members in your coalition MUST be random public players who are not participating in this challenge. AT NO TIME are people in this challenge permitted to be in a coalition together. ALSO, players participating in this challenge are not permitted to invite outside friends/acquaintances/alliance mates/game buddies to join the game, help them out in the game, or join their coalition. Play on your own or make/join a coalition of random public strangers.
NATIONS/AREAS: State your intended region of the world and select a region that has not already been stated. This rule is not my preference either. I think it would be better if we all random, but some players feared that one player might randomly end up next to another player. That would have been fine with me, but whatever. Also, don't say "Asia". Asia is huge. If you want to claim an Asian region, say "East Asia", "Central Asia", or "Western Asia". Choose a region and try to distance yourselves. Hint: If you choose Russia (ugh), and there are a decent number of players, there's a good chance you're going to wind up pretty close to someone else; try to instead choose a nation that allows everyone a little separation.
CHEATING A LITTLE: Listen, no one can stop you from doing it, BUT you will know that you did it. The entire point to having a match like this is to test the skills and strategies of various players. If you use a small illegal advantage (gold, friends, etc.) here or there, you might get away with it publicly, and you might end up the winner, but you'll still know that you had to cheat a little to do it.
MY REGION: I didn't care what nation or region I got, so I did a random in another game (which I then archived) to see what country it gave me. I got a certain medium-sized nation in SOUTH AMERICA which I will now purposely select when our game starts. So, SOUTH AMERICA is going to be my region. I don't care how you choose your nation, but
IF YOU PLAN TO PARTICIPATE, PLEASE RESPOND WITH THE REGION YOU'LL BE USING.
