    • Tier 2 Elite sub invisibility

It says the Tier 2 sub is in visible if not in combat. Does this mean that units that can't spot subs in sight range, could pass right over your tier 2 elite subs without knowing it?

    • Im asking because it looks like that just happened to me, I had elite subs sitting on a center point and when I checked next, units were sailing away from there and I know they didn't also come from that direction.

    • Elite subs are quite invisible. If you set them to "return fire" or "hold fire" they should even pass enemy ships without a fight. There is a catch: destroyers, naval recon and ASW helicopters reveal stealth units when in sight range.
This is a great weakness and even imbalance in the AIP. Sight range destroyers 40 vs sight range AIP 50. So if you're fighting a stack with a destroyer your AIP will be in trouble fast. This is not correct because a RL AIP would have passive listening device and should be able to detect ships far away maybe even beyond classic sonar range.
I have been using AIP regularly and the lack of passive sonar makes them near useless. You have to use them very, very hands on and even then the sight difference (10) between destroyer (40) and AIP (50) is to small.
I think it would be realistic to add passive sonar to the AIP at least with range 100 but 150 would by justified especially at tier 2/3.
I leave it to the devs if it should only detect destroyers/corvettes or all vessels.
The last option would be correct since AIP should be equipped with advanced listening devices (including radio) in order to detect ships and submarines.
So an AIP should be aware of its surroundings.

Ehhhhh, Elite subs aren't a unit meant to go toe to toe with destroyers. Tho I would love to have the units the way you suggest, having that ability would not address an imbalance as you suggest, but create one. Buffing the AIP like this would allow AIP subs to mow thru opposing navies willy nilly, instead of being the lurk, hit and run unit they are supposed to be. I'm pretty sure the extension of sight range above all other ships is meant to indicate a passive sonar, and it's range being more limited than active sonar is logical and quite consistent with realism.

There is a simple solution to help your naval units see other naval units (except subs) in advance: AWAC

Do you wish to give Spec Forces a passive radar too?
It is kind of the point of those unit, that they are strong but risky to play. Giving them a passive radar would make it quite impossible to ever find them.
Combined arms is indeed an essential element of the strategic approach to modern warfare. Each unit is unique, so supplement them with force multipliers. Spec Ops plus Radar is a force to be reckoned with, and so is the elite sub when assisted in RSTA by AWACS.
