We have some interesting maps taking place in apocalyptic scenario, Zombies, Global Warming, WW3. Each creates its own spin on gameplay mechanics. Zombies make Rebels Reproduce Like Rabbits resulting in interesting tactics Make a country all zombified then fortify the chokepoint and watch them wreck the neighbors and profit. Global warming = Ocean and rivers galore making navy superpowers and more chokepoints.
I propose a third option. Solar flare or Nuclear Fallout where the world is thrown into an Apocalyptic fallout. Deserts replace the planes and forest die. Rain forest die. Rivers and Lakes dry up, and the oceans freeze a bit more in the shade. This will make a contrast to the global warming scenario that focuses the world in a more naval perspective to one that more Ground, With more plains and deserts for better tankiness.
It would include the landbridge between Russia and Alaska, No mans Lands from the Rising Tides. and Desertification of most of the world. 10/10 would tank spam in the mad max world.
